It is quite well known that everything starts in the mind. The smallest thought becomes an idea, which in turn becomes our actions and behaviour.

That's why thinking positively is an important trait for all successful people to have. 

Whilst we all have potential within us, it's still a matter of choice whether we use it or not.

People who have a positive mental attitude tend to attract others more than those who are negative and blame external factors for what goes wrong. 

Our thought processes are thus controlled by our mind and exhibited by our behaviour, attitude and perception. They also control the type of lifestyle we prefer.

Those who are happy tend to radiate positivity around them. By contrast, those who are gloomy repel others away from them. 

So basically it's a choice... happiness or misery? Undoubtedly, both are an important part of life even if one is preferred over the other.

No matter who you are - rich or poor - you will experience both and not avoid either. 

The problems that envelop us tend to make us stronger internally as they teach us about life, about values and how to face different challenges that we come across in our daily routine.

Those who face life challenges positively generally have positive results. Those who face challenges with a negative attitude usually end up with negative results.

  1. When you experience negative thoughts, try to change them into positive ones.

    Always remember that you can control your thoughts, and your thoughts shouldn't control the way you live!

    So instead of complaining and blaming others evaluate your options. Think of the best possible solution under the given circumstances and act upon them.
  2. Always frame things in the positive - for instance, 'I want to achieve X' rather than 'I don't want X to happen'.

    It is amazing how the mind doesn't hear the 'don't' and thinks you actually want what you don't want!
  3. Don't associate with negative people. Rather, hang out with those who think positively.

    Talk or get counselling with people who tend to think positively and are a source of inspiration for you. 
  4. Find happiness in the simple things in life. Remember to look upon the less fortunate and be thankful for what you have. 
  5. Love yourself instead of blaming yourself. Be kind and respect others. Do small gestures of kindness such as a simple smile and hello to people in the street, helping the elderly, etc.

    The positive signals you send out are met with positivity in response which increases your satisfaction level. 
  6. Help unfortunate people where you can. There are plenty of options such as voluntary service at an orphan shelter or a nursing home.

    Spend time with the miserable and radiate your positivity onto them. However, don't adopt their negativity!

Always remember, you get what you give. So always send signals of positivity and hope to others.

Do remember that when you give others a reason to smile for and hope to cherish, you'll also get that back tenfold.
